Behavioral Health Centers Accepts Empire Insurance Coverage for Addiction Treatment

Empire BlueCross BlueShield insurance coverage is accepted for addiction treatment services at qualified health provider facilities across America, and Behavioral Health Centers' state-of-the-art recovery programs here in Florida are no exception. We're always happy to work with clients who have Empire BCBS insurance plans — referred to in this article as "Empire plans" or "Empire rehab coverage" for brevity — and they should provide a range of options for a healthy and successful course of substance abuse treatment.

Navigating Your Empire Rehab Coverage

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurance providers recognize addiction as a mental health disorder that can't be denied coverage as a preexisting condition. That means it's likely your Empire plan covers at least some of the costs of substance abuse disorder treatment.

When you reach out to Behavioral Health Centers for help with drug or alcohol addiction, a dedicated caseworker from our trained staff of addiction experts is assigned to help you navigate the complexities of working out what your policy covers and what your alternatives are. Making the call is the beginning of a recovery journey in which we do everything possible to support and ease your way.

Part of that commitment is identifying which kinds of rehab treatment are included under your Empire rehab coverage and what proportion and duration of those costs are covered.

Understanding Your Empire Plan

The jargon surrounding insurance policies can get confusing, so let's define some basic terms before we get into the details.

Premium: A monthly payment to the health insurance provider by the policyholder to maintain their coverage. For people with employer-provided insurance, the company often picks up part or all of this cost.

Deductible: A fixed amount the policyholder needs to pay before their health insurance begins to cover a larger portion of their care costs. It resets annually. A plan that comes with a deductible of $1,000, for instance, means paying $1,000 out-of-pocket for your care in any given year before insurance kicks in and covers a higher percentage of costs.

Coinsurance: A cost-sharing arrangement for health care services such as prescription medications. It's a percentage of the service's cost paid by a member who's reached their deductible (see above).

Out-of-pocket maximum: The ceiling on the amount of money you can be expected to pay out-of-pocket in any given year before coinsurance covers the entire bill.

Detox Coverage and Your Empire Plan

The starting point for many entering a substance abuse program is a period of detox. While it's not a universal requirement, detox without access to medical care is potentially dangerous and undertaken at your own risk. It's generally recommended to undergo this phase of recovery with the monitoring and supervision of addiction experts and the benefit of professional medical advice.

Empire plans provide flexible coverage of detox treatment. Typically, BCBS coverage comes in the form of bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans.

Inpatient Care and Your Empire Plan

Empire plan insurance covers addiction treatment regardless of the specific type of substance abuse disorder involved, but the full extent of coverage will vary depending on your specific policy. Some Empire Plans don't cover inpatient treatment.

Behavioral Health Centers is particularly noted for groundbreaking and intensive inpatient or residential care services. If your Empire plan doesn't cover inpatient care, there may be other options, including third-party financing, to lighten the load. We're always committed to working with the insurance company to get you the most affordable care possible.

Empire Plan Mental Health Coverage

Mental health and substance abuse disorders are intimately related and today are recognized as such. There are other mental health problems, however, that aren't directly connected with substance abuse or drug addiction treatment but have a direct bearing on it and can actually fuel addiction issues.

For this reason, Empire plans provide the same health insurance benefits for mental health treatment as they do for substance abuse services, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD and eating disorders.
